Getting Started

Starting your treatment is a significant step towards managing your weight, and we’re here to make the process simple and clear. Here’s what you need to know to get started:

Find the Dose That’s Right for You1

Yurpeak® offers flexible dosing options tailored to your needs. Your doctor will help you determine the best once-weekly dose, and together you’ll adjust it based on your progress.

  • Start at 2.5 mg: For the first 4 weeks, your doctor will recommend a starting dose of 2.5 mg to help your body get used to Yurpeak®.
  • Increase to 5 mg: After 4 weeks, you’ll likely move up to 5 mg once weekly. This dose is the first step in your maintenance plan.
  • Further Adjustments: If needed, your dose may be adjusted every four weeks in increments of 2.5 mg, depending on how your body responds. Doses can be increased to 7.5 mg, 10 mg, 12.5 mg, or up to maximum of 15 mg once weekly. Your doctor will guide you through each adjustment to ensure it aligns with your treatment goals.
What if You Miss a Dose1?

Life can be busy, and it’s easy to forget a dose. If that happens, here’s what to do:

  • If it’s been 4 days or less since your missed dose, simply take the injection as soon as you remember. Then, continue with you next scheduled dose.
  • If it’s been more than 4 days, skip the missed dose and resume your schedule. Don’t double up or take extra doses to catch up.
Keeping on Track with Your Plan

Staying consistent with your treatment plan is key to achieving your weight loss goals. Follow your doctor’s dosing recommendations closely and regularly check in to see how your body is responding. Yurpeak®’s step dosing process ensures a gradual and seamless adjustment to the treatment.

How to Inject Yurpeak® KwikPen® Step-by-Step Instructions1

Step 1: Get Ready

  • Wash your hands with soap and water.
  • Inspect the KwikPen® and label to see if the medication name and dose strength matches your prescription. Make sure the medicine in the KwikPen® is not frozen, is free of particles and is not cloudy or discoloured. Also make sure that it is colourless to slightly yellow.

Step 2: Prepare the KwikPen®

  • Wipe the red inner seal with an alcohol swab.
  • Attach a new needle by twisting until it is tight. Always use a new pen needle for each injection.
  • Pull off the outer needle shield and the inner needle shield. Do not throw the outer shield away–this will be reused.

Step 3: Prime the KwikPen®

  • Slowly turn the dose knob until you hear two clicks and the extended line shown in the dose window aligns with the dose indicator. This is the prime position.
  • Hold the KwikPen® with the needle pointing up and tap to collect air bubbles.
  • Release some medicine into the air by pushing and holding the dose knob in until it stops and the (0) is shown in the dose window. Keep holding and count to 5.
  • Do not inject into your body.
  • Your pen has been primed if a small amount of medicine comes out the tip of the pen needle.
  • If you don’t see any medicine, repeat this step no more than two additional times. If you still don’t see any medicine, change the needle and repeat this step no more than one additional time. If you still do not see medicine, contact mailbox_in-gps@lilly.com or call 1800-123-0021.

Step 4: Dial to (1) for one full dose

  • Turn the dose knob until it stops and the (1) is shown in the dose window.
  • This is a full dose.

Step 5: Choose injection site

  • Prepare the injection site as directed by your doctor, pharmacist or nurse.
  • You can inject Yurpeak® under the skin of your stomach or thighs. Another person can give you the injection in your stomach, thighs or back of upper arms.
  • You can use the same part of your body each week but choose a different injection site within that area.

Step 6: Inject Yurpeak®

  • Insert the needle into your skin and slowly push the dose knob in until it stops.
  • Hold the dose knob in and slowly count to 5. The (0) must be in the dose window before removing the needle.
  • Pull the needle out. Confirm that the (0) is in the dose window.
  • If you do not see the (0) insert the needle back into your skin and finish the injection. Do not turn the dose knob back to the (1).

Step 7: After your injection

  • Carefully replace the outer needle shield.
  • Unscrew the capped needle and dispose of it in a sharps container.
  • Replace the KwikPen® cap. Do not store without the cap attached.
